Program to test the functionality of the hardware of a laptop?

Moins all together,

I'm looking for one or two programs that can test the functionality of hardware on laptops. I need a program that is operable and readable by a layman and of course is free.

I want to buy a used laptop out of warranty but will not spend any money without a decent test.

Would be glad about some advice.

Ca

MemTest is not bad for the memory.

You now imagine a program that you anschmeißt and then tells you "The hard drive in this PC is broken"?

Something does not exist… Is technically not possible at all…

Pr

For a quick test I would look in Device Manager if all the devices are working properly, then I would buy some graphics card benchmark like Furmark for a few seconds (if there are artifacts or similar occurrences).

If you want you can look how the battery is going you can just type in Windows 8 up in the cmd "powercfg / batteryreport". Then he generates an HTML report that you can open in the browser.

That would be what I would do.

Pr

It will take a few hours. As much time as he probably does not have.

Ca

Yeah right. But then it would be tested correctly. I do not know a quick test in this area, at least not, which is really good.

va

I do not have a few hours. That's true.

va

Where do you see in the device manager if all devices are working properly? Regarding battery: And what about Windows 7, is that the same?

va

No, I do not imagine that.

But I imagine a program that provides data, in conjunction with the appropriate instructions on how to read / must.

pa

That's basically what I mean, and no, there's no such thing… And certainly not, if all that happens in a few seconds…

Pr

Just look that there are no exclamation points and all devices are displayed which should have the system.

With windows 7 you only have "powercfg -energy", but that's not so good. But at least.

Pr

That is also completely correct. That just can't be tested quickly.

va

What do you think of the programs that are proposed here: https://www.chip.de/...95447.html

pa

Yes, they all work, but they will not deliver results within seconds…

Pr

The program from Intel seems to me unnecessary. If the CPU is broken, then the calculator actually does not work at first. Did not see the program Eject error ever.

Memtest takes, as I said, several hours depending on the amount of memory.

Furmark I have also suggested, quite useful.

CrystalDiskmark is not for the purpose. If you really want to test the hard drive, which is actually always worthwhile with used notebooks, I would rather take crystaldiskinfo from the same developer. This reads you the SMART values of the hard drive, so the error rate, temperature, total running time in hours, all that holds. Crystaldiskmark only tells you the speed. This does not help you determine if it is flawed.

Pr

But the hard drive I would use in a notebook anyway directly exchange.

Probably ne rusty 500gb HDD or something.

Therefore, I would not care much about the included hard drive.

I have no idea how to replace the hard drive in a notebook. Always had a PC, which I had put together myself. Do I have to watch if appropriate still suitable videos, but it seems that should not be too difficult. Would then probably install a small ssd with 128 or 256Gb.

However, the advantage is that the laptops are already preinstalled with Windows 7-10, which saves me a lot of work. Since I currently lack of time, I find that very convenient.

Overall, but you can't reasonably test the hardware according to your statements in the short term. Will I look at your / your suggestions but again the days and then just do what goes or what I can do with my know-how then.

Would you recommend certain brands of laptops rather than others, or is that completely wrong? I want to get myself a working laptop with 8gb main memory, at least I5 4th generation, 15.6 ", in the best case with SSD, Graka is relatively unimportant. The whole thing then amounts to a budget of about 200 euro.

Pr

For most notebooks, hard drive replacement takes just a few minutes.

ThinkPads are very good for it. Older ThinkPad used and possibly ne SSD Install and you are well served.

The older models do not have any SSDs.
