I don't know anything about it, but my laptop has gotten slow. I've had it for 4 years and there's next to nothing on it. Mainly use it to write invoices and edit images with Lightroom. My brother knows someone who could upgrade my memory to 1TB. Does this make the laptop a little faster? My buddy thinks he'll even slow down
No. Hard disk space has nothing to do with the performance of the laptop. The writing and reading speeds are more important than the storage capacity
Only an Ssd with faster read and write rates than the old one makes the laptop faster
It will be faster if you switch from an HDD to an SSD.
Not from HDD to HDD, nor from SSD to SSD.
Abstract: No.
Expanding the memory is only useful as long as the available memory space is insufficient for the programs in question and the computer therefore has to move parts of the data from memory (RAM) to the hard disk.
But if the memory is sufficient, then there's no further speed advantage through "more memory".
Hmm what type of hard drive is installed? SSD or HDD?
If the old one is replaced, more performance can be achieved. But minimal
How do I see if I have an SSD or HDD?
An SSD is silent, an HDD makes noise.
You could also start a benchmark with CrystalDiskMark, with HDDs you get double-digit MB / s, with SSD three- to four-digit.
You can also see the speed of the hard drive in the task manager, but you would have to manually copy a large file.
Alternatively, find out the name of the hard drive in the device manager and google it.
