Because you are immune to this virus now. You can, for example, get more flu, but only from new or mutated versions of the pathogen. On your controller are but then only the old versions.

Apart from that, viruses outside of host bodies do not survive very long.

The flu is triggered by viruses. Similar to vaccination, you are immune after successfully fighting the flu because the immune system has developed antibodies. That's why one gets sick only once.

If you get sick again, you have a second virus caught.

Because our body has the wonderful gift of being able to learn. Once you have come into contact with a virus and become ill, the body forms so-called antibodies that defend themselves against these viruses. When you come back in contact with these viruses, the body knows how to deal with them.

Unfortunately, these flu and cold viruses change over and over, which is why our body has to repeatedly form new antibodies. Therefore, you always get a cold, even if you have had a cold before. These stupid viruses are not stupid!
