Compile program for videos (laptop)?

I'm supposed to put together a slideshow of our senior class and wanted to ask if anyone knows a good and free (cheap) program for the laptop? Where you can also include music, photos and videos.

Would be grateful for any help.

I would recommend the Windows Movie Maker (free)

So I've been cutting with "shotcut" for over a year now, a free program that lets you do different things. Different formats, effects, properties change etc. Pp… So I'm happy with it, but it has a few bugs. For example, it crashes every now and then, if you expect too much, but it is good enough for most projects. Can / can it test times.
