What happens if I put my laptop in the water for 5 minutes?

I know it's a stupid question but I have to do that for a reason. In my laptop are a lot of private stuff in there (no pictures of me or something…), and also stuff what I wrote what I have with my friends what I did eg that day and so things that are not allowed with us, and I have to give it to my dad for an hour in an hour because he has to check what, and many things are not deleted, and there are sooo many files so I can't do that anyway. In addition, the laptop is old and scrap so I've got the idea to make it kapput because I have two phones anyway. If I make the disc kapput, it will be noticeable. So I have to put it in the water. So the question is, what happens then? I realize it's going to break, but can it go back to repairing it? How long does it have to be in the water before it can never start again?

Let it dry and everything works again. Simply format the device.

If it belongs to your father please do not break it. If it's really that serious just reset the windows. What if your dad has important data on the laptop?

Put it in the oven.
