How to enable surround sound in Windows 10?

I want to activate surround sound on my laptop, but this option is grayed out for me. Do I need any special software for this?

Cancel deactivation
Click Sonic for headphones
Activate surround sound

I can't remove the deactivation. Windows Sonic always remains grayed out, even in the control panel.
