2 monitors via VGA and USB. Is that possible?

I want to connect 2 monitors to my laptop to expand the screen. I have already tried several splits, but without success (have always duplicated the picture). On my laptop I have a VGA connection and several USB ports.

Now my question, can I connect a monitor via VGA port to my laptop and connect the second (also VGA) with an adapter via the USB port, do you think that would work to expand?

Ha

Unfortunately it does not work that easy. Basically, an output on the device (whether HDMI or VGA) can only display one screen. As you have already noticed, splitters or similar devices only duplicate the display. If your device has only one output, you can't easily run another screen with an expanded display on the device (unless you take the laptop screen as a second screen).

The alternative via USB would be possible, but only under the condition that you connect an external graphics card via a USB port and connect a second screen from there. These USB video cards are also very special for this purpose and you get for 30 euro on the net. You should not expect them to be brilliant, but it's enough for a second screen to work or watch movies.

A direct screen transfer via USB without this additional card does not work.

An addition:

If your laptop has a USB-C port with support for DP, you could connect an additional monitor there.

Thank you two!

Have a USB C port, so it would be possible via a DP to expand a second monitor?

Ex

Yes, if he supports DP it works.

Normally the connection is marked accordingly:

If the icon is not on it, perhaps in the laptop description is what.

You would then need a monitor that has either a direct USB-C port or a cable from USB-C to DP.
