DSL 50/5 Mbit / s or 100/10 Mbit / s?

I'm just looking for a suitable DSL contract. Now I have found two contracts from Vodafone Unitymedia on the Check 24 forum. Once the "Red Internet & Phone 100 Cable" and "Red Internet & Phone 50 Cable". One with 100 https://www.check24.de/dsl/online-abschluss/tarif/6878536e3a51bbd91180f4dd473bc9e0/ for 21.24 euro / month and the other with https://www.check24.de/dsl/online-abschluss/tarif/b2635a8e431d227181319920761714ae/ for 17.91 euro / month.

I live alone and use the Internet for university (online lecture, downloading lecture data, uploading homework, etc.), as well as for various streaming services and social media platforms (Youtube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Reddit). I also have a PS3 that I would use to play games like COD etc online. In my 1 person household there are the following 3 devices: my laptop, my PS3 and my smartphone.

Now I have found various information online about my personal Mbit / s needs.

Projected, the two contracts (including the bonuses / credits) differ by around 79.99 euro (3.33 euro / month difference) over 24 months. However, the 50 Mbit / s remains constant at 19.99 euro per month and the 100 Mbit / s at 19.99 euro (months 1-6) and then 34.99 euro (7-24). The contract period is 24 months. (Above the average monthly amount including credit notes)

With the 50/5 Mbit / s you get a credit of 120 euro (paid out). With the 100/10 Mbit / s both 190 euro (paid out) and 120 euro (billed in monthly installments).

Which one would you recommend in terms of my needs and in terms of download and upload speed?

50 would probably be enough, but I would definitely pay the 4 euro more.

Would have recommended 50 Mbit until you said Netflix. I think it pulls a lot.

Basically, I use 50 MBit with my whole family and spend a lot of time on YouTube. But we just don't stream very high quality.

100 Mbit are 12.5 Mbytes / sec, 50 Mbit half. 6 Mbytes are actually enough for FUllHD.

But for 4K you have to have a 200k line

Be

Me too, but with all the bills, every euro is definitely worth it and probably a very limited budget

I've just done a test on my 45mbits line… Here 4k60fps Youtube + 1080p60fps Twitch + 1080p Netflix parallel was possible without any problems… Besides that, a 128kbits audio stream was running and I was able to comfortably surf the web… 8k60fps unfortunately the CPU couldn't manage i7 10700k, for whatever reason… Somehow the hardware acceleration doesn't work ^^ … So 200k for 4k is nonsense:-) Netflix specifies 25 Mbit per second here - Recommended for Ultra HD quality:-)

Oh, yes you are right, I misread for Amazon 25 Mbyte instead of 25 Mbit

Be

I have to correct. With your finances you don't have to pay 4 euro extra a month, treat yourself to something else and get the 50 k
After reading it correctly, you and your significant other could watch 4K films at the same time with the 50k cable

I would use the 50 line… Enough for everything and in the end it is only not the fastest when downloading large games… You make about 6mb in the sec. Say 350mb in the min and 20gb in the hour… So you wait for a 100gb game, 5 hours:-)
