I installed Windows 10 and the latest Linux Ubuntu on my laptop.

In Linux somehow no network is shown. So no icon in the taskbar. If you go to WLAN in the settings, it only shows that "No wireless network adapter found".

Does anyone have a solution to the problem?

Did you install Ubuntu normally or in a VM?

A driver for the WLAN adapter may be missing. What kind of PC is it? Maybe a proprietary one. Do you get internet via LAN?

You can use the command

lshw

(List Hardware) let's see what kind of adapter you have. After that it might be worth searching in a search engine for "Ubuntu WLAN ADAPTER NAME".

Quite normal on my hard drive

Can't I set that automatically? Because unfortunately I have no Lankabel ^^

How is that configured in windows?
Do you have a fixed local IP address? Or does he get it from a router?

On Linux you should use

ip a

at least the MAC address will be displayed.

lsusb

should also have an entry that can be interpreted as a WLAN stick.

If he does not recognize the WLAN adapter, this unfortunately does not work automatically. 😖

I think that the W-LAN chip of your notebook is not supported by the drivers available in the Linux kernel.

Either the WLAN adapter needs a proprietary driver or it is incompatible with Linux.

To check if a driver is available you should use the driver wizard from Ubuntu. To do this, your notebook must either be connected to your router via a LAN cable or, if this is not possible, connected to the Internet in another way. In connection with a smartphone it would be e.g. Possible to use USB tethering to allow your notebook to access the internet until the driver has been installed.

If your Wi-Fi chip is not compatible with Linux, you will only have to buy a Wi-Fi stick that works best with Linux without additional manufacturer drivers.
