If e.g. My notebook no longer works and I have no idea about repair, then I can leave the notebook in a computer shop for repair…

what is the name of the person who looks at the problem and makes the notebook functional again? Pc-specialist? Or computer technician? Both?

Fi

IT systems engineer
Technicians only if a technician training in this area has been successfully completed.

sa

Computer scientist

A computer scientist has studied computer science. Then he is not in the store repairing computers. Computer scientists have completely different fields of activity.

What do you call the person who repairs laptops and PCs in the store?

sa

I'm computer scientist and I have not studied computer science. In Switzerland, there's apprenticeship, a vocational training. Computer scientist specializing in application development EFZ or specialization systems engineering EFZ. I had chosen the profession of system engineering and had to do in the practical training part with all sorts of system-heavy and also software-related stuff. Repairing or upgrading laptops and PCs from customers and companies (eg, installing ram, installing disks, cloning or creating and maintaining RAID systems, etc.), and of course it depends on what area of application you are working on but repairing as an info systems engineer you often have PCs or at least you are able to do it correctly.

A good system computer scientist is familiar with all common operating systems, so he can properly install, manage, repair or even restore them.

So do not say that.

Thanks, something learned again. In D, the training courses are called Fachinformatiker with a focus on application development and system integration. Small, but subtle difference in naming, training content and fields of activity apparently the same or similar. So now depends on where the questioner lives. I have the impression that it is Austria.

No idea? I've never thought about it. Maybe there's no uniform training for such a thing. When I'm just looking for job postings, I find something like "A completed technical training (eg IT system electronics (w / m), service technician (w / m), etc.) would be desirable" and "A completed vocational training in electrical engineering Area or equivalent work experience in IT Service / PC Repair / Notebook Repair / Mobile Phone Repair ".
