A few days ago I removed the hard drive of my five-year-old notebook because it no longer works and I will soon have a new PC. This hard drive stores important data that I don't want to lose, which is why I need an adapter so that I can back up all the data on my new PC. Now to my problem: I ordered such an adapter a few days ago, it arrived today and - unfortunately - did not fit. I have attached a picture of the hard drive connections and I need your help to find the right adapter.
I thank you in advance!
best regards
Louis
Picture of the connections of the adapter:
This is a completely normal SATA connection. Accordingly, a SATA to USB would make sense.
Thank-you!
Do you buy a SATA-to-USB adapter or you can also install it in your PC. All you need is a SATA cable and a corresponding power cable on the power supply unit
Are there different sizes of cables that I have to consider or can it be anything?
SATA cables are SATA cables that are standardized
And the appropriate power connection on the power pack is also standardized
And for external:

or just as a cable to save data:

Ah - then thank you very much for your help!
To go into my "bad buy" of the adapter again: It is a USB 2.0-SATA adapter that is far too small in terms of connection. In my question I put a picture of the connections of the cable into it. Then I made no mistake - despite the fact that it was a SATA cable, did I? Regards Louis (picture can't be published yet.)
So the connection cable that I had linked to you fits on every SATA disk, regardless of whether it is 2.5 "or 3.5", whether it is a classic hard disk or SSD, since the distance and the number of pins are standardized
All right, then I'll probably order this for myself. I thank you.
