I sent my notebook to the repair department a week ago. With the error description that the (built-in) battery is not fully charged for a while and the notebook has suddenly heated up (down) in the shut down state, that I almost burned it and the thing had to put 5min in the freezer, so it reasonably down cold. (Then it's still started up). The notebook is completely closed, so you can't self-expand and it has no drive.
Now I got the following email:
"We have received your device to o. G. Order number and would like to edit it.Unfortunately, we need from you a detailed error description and the Windows password.
Please tell us urgently. "
Uhm, that can't be rights, right? For a battery / hardware problem?
How are they supposed to check if the battery is charging, if they can't see that in the display?
you should have removed sensitive data before submitting
No you do not give your Windows password to those please! There's a safe mode for a reason.
If the battery is BUILT-IN and therefore hard-wired and you can't hang up your own diagnostic tools or at least an ammeter (in simple terms), then this is anything but dubious.
The device immediately goes down again with the indication that the battery is empty even after the device was connected for a very long time to recharge…
