A friend was just about to write a term paper in Word. It also always has the "Save automatically" function. Her laptop goes out of nowhere and she doesn't seem to have access to anything. You will see the following:
Even if she presses yes or no, only a blank page appears. She also has enough memory. How can she get back to her housework?
The file may be damaged. Can other files still be opened?
What is the file extension? Maybe something was shot and an extension on the file that can't be opened via Word.
I had the same problem once, but more than a decade ago. Does the file still exist somewhere on the computer? Then open (try) it with Notepad!
I'm that friend and unfortunately that doesn't work either
Other files can be opened
I only see the file extension somehow on my mobile phone and it says it is an Office Open XML word processing document
Then make a copy to be on the safe side and change the ending to .doc or .docx - it might work then.
I looked the ending is .docx and still it can neither be copied nor opened
Hm then Gsonz may be right with his / her assumption and the file is damaged. At least it could have happened when the laptop suddenly went off. If the recovery does not work like in the picture below, I unfortunately don't have any advice.
Try it with REcuva!
