I recently wanted to reinstall Discord.
But when I downloaded the installer, I got an error message… I have already tried to delete all Discord files in… Unfortunately, this does not work because one of the files is supposedly open. Nothing is open in the Task Manager either.
Occasionally, there are also random Java error messages. Maybe this has to do with the fact that I can't delete the Discord files?
I would be happy if someone can help me!
What for an error message when installing?
First you install the Revo Uninstaller tool: https://www.revouninstaller.com/de/revo-uninstaller-free-download/ The freeware version is sufficient.
Then start Windows 10 in Safe Mode. It works like this: https://www.ionos.de/digitalguide/server/konfiguration/windows-10-abgesicherten-modus-starten/#:~:text=nichts%20mehr%20funktioniert.-,Den%20abgesicherten%20Modus%20von%20Windows%2010%20mittels%20F8%2DTaste%20starten,F8%5D%2DTaste%20zu%20dr%C3%BCcken.
Then uninstall Discord with Revo Uninstaller. When that is done, start the command prompt as administrator and enter the following command:
sfc / scannow
This repairs Windows 10. When that is complete, restart your computer. Then install Discord normally.
Since at some point I no longer wanted to see the many bugs / problems of Discord, I switched to the portable version at some point:
https://portapps.io/app/discord-portable/#download
If it no longer works: Simply delete the folder and reinstall, done.
