Switch from SSD to SSD?

A relative has bought a M2 2280 Samsung SSD for his notebook.

Now the problem is he would like to switch from an already existing M2 in the notebook.

Since he does not have two slots, this now presents us with problems.

Because as far as I can see there's no way to connect this SSD, which is probably an M-key externally.

Is there a solution?

There are some hard disk clone programs that are designed to boot the computer from an external device (USB stick, or CD / DVD). This is necessary for a cloning of the internal boot volume. This creates an image file of the existing boot disk (whether SSD or classic hard disk) on e.g. An external hard drive.

Then you swap out the internal disks, rewrite the image file to the new disk, and then run, and that's what a good disk clone program does, too, for the alignment and speed necessary for SSDs for speed and durability.

So you never needed to have both SSDs plugged in somewhere at the same time, but you need an external disk that can hold all the data from the old one.

Such a program is e.g. https://www.easeus.de/ppc/disk-copy.html

There are tons of solutions.

The term is "m.2 USB Adapter / Enclosure" and temporarily turns the hard drive into a large USB flash drive. And your friend could then continue to use it with the old SSD.

Well then please find me an affordable for M-Key!

Sure, that works, even with the normal Windows image. But I want to do it with the Samsung software as it is much easier to use for the end user.

Can't be so hard to look through the list?

I wanted to tell you that according to what is known to me something does not exist!

First, you did not mention that constraint in your question, and at times, if the Samsung software can do that, and is so easy to use, why are you asking first? And if the Samsung software is easy to use, but has no solution to this problem, then it does not use anything if the software is still so user-friendly.

Sorry if I have dared in the search for just this solution dared to put a comment below your answer.

Unfortunately, I have actually forgotten the software specification, sorry.
