I would like to install Hola VPN on my laptop. Although I have seen in several YouTube videos that it is supposed to be virus-free, I'm not 100 percent sure if it's true.
Can someone possibly tell me if I can really use Hola VPN safely?
For vpns, different characteristics have to be taken into account, eg. Whether it has dns leaks, whether you have to pay for it (due to the motivation to protect eg criminal users), if there's a statement regarding secret service requests, which encryption will be used, if the servers have dynamic ips and if those outside the 14eyes are available, Hola was once a p2p vpn that used the devices of the user so high risk. If you need a good vpn get 3 years nordvpn for 90 euro
A tip: Look better for German VPN providers. Avoid providers who are subject to the "USA PATRIOT Act".
Due to the current legal situation, German VPN providers can't be obliged to implement surveillance measures because they fall under a corresponding exception as a secondary provider of public telecommunications services. A German VPN provider still has to ensure a high level of data protection. These include the prohibition of storing personalized data and the anonymization of users in their own system. Even the data retention can therefore not harm you with a German VPN. According to the VDS, Internet providers are obliged to keep their users' connection and location data available for a fixed period of time. Most German VPN providers, however, do not run or save data logs, nothing can be shared here. This is an outstanding feature of such VPNs and guarantees full anonymity, which is not guaranteed with every VPN provider.
With a VPN, the PC has just another entry point to the web. The safety of unsafe Windows (380000 new pest variants daily) does not increase that.
With a free Linux, there are no virus problems. Linux Mint can be installed on an evening by any beginner besides Windows (easier than Win).
Can you recommend a provider?
You can take a look at "ProtonVPN". Although I have advised you to use German VPN's, ProtonVPN is from Switzerland, but is just like German VPN's to a high level of privacy and a little more aggravated!
I use it myself and am very satisfied with this VPN. ProtonVPN is available as a program for Windows, Mac OS and Linux as well as an app for Android and iOS. Praiseworthy is also the maintenance and updating, the fast speed of the servers, the many servers as well as countries and the connection possibilities of this VPN.
Hope I could help you. 😃
