Do you know how it is done by the companies that use a TV as an advertising screen? Or have they installed a special surface, or is there currently a laptop running in the background via HDMI as we do with us?
We have a TV in the business that we would like to run with commercials.
As I said, it runs on a laptop (HDMI) and a player runs in a continuous loop, with some companies it always looks as if they have software or another surface on the TV? Does anyone have experience with this? Many Thanks
The problem is the TV runs day and night and also on the weekend, I can set an on and off option on the TV, but then it does not automatically connect to the laptop etc. Everything does not work as intended.
A laptop or mini PC connected with HDMI.
The TV is not switched off individually, but on the mini PC or laptop - possibly with a multiple socket and switch. When starting up, they both start up and connect.
If you want to do it perfectly you would have to install a UPS so that the PC is shut down properly. But it should also go with simply "stalling" by electricity.
Often these are "public displays", which can establish a direct connection to a corresponding server from which videos are to be played.
Alternatively: hang a mini PC behind the television / monitor and connect it via HDMI. Possibly. Just play it in full screen with VLC Media PLayer. Alternatively, kiosk mode for something like that.
As a rule, these are simply mini PCs or similar ones that are connected to the screen.
if you want to turn the screen off and on again, the easiest thing to do would be to use a monitor instead of a tv.
if you have a raspery pi as a single player, you can use it to control the television.
