I have a question about Microsoft. I recently switched from Windows to Mac and of course also wanted to use Word etc., only I suddenly have to buy the full version for Office in order to use Word, Outlook… I don't understand now why I'm allowed to use all functions on my old laptop (Windows 10) and mobile phone and practically nothing on Mac. I'm logged on with the same account everywhere and had previously ordered a Microsoft disc.
Another system - new purchase!
By the way, when I bought a new car, I also had to buy the same accessories that I already had in the old one - it just didn't fit in the new car!

my condolences

I assume you are NOT using office 365? So you would have to buy a separate Mac license
Look https://keyking.de/Microsoft-Office-2016-fuer-MAC-1MAC.html, there's.
And again such a stupid answer without having any idea…
Well, those who can read don't write such useless answers and comments!
The questioner didn't want to buy it again - well, do you understand that now?!

Some software licenses are tied to the platform and can either not be transferred at all or only at an additional cost. You seem to have the paid version of Microsoft Office for Windows. Ergo you need a license for macOS.
Either you now buy a Microsoft Office license for your Mac, switch to the Office 365 subscription model or alternatively install Windows on your Mac via Bootcamp or Parallels. Parallels would have the advantage that you can use the Office Suite programs "on the fly".

It doesn't matter whether CD / DVD or as ESD (Electronic Software Distribution -> Download), in the end it always depends on the respective license. If this is explicitly for Windows, so that nothing can start on your Mac. So it's entirely up to you what you do now.
For me it looks very similar, because I work with Windows as well as Linux and macOS. However, I'm currently lucky that my employer in Position has given me access to Microsoft Office 365. Ergo can use the complete Office Suite for free.
