How can I get my e-mail address from my school to my laptop at home?

Surely your school will offer a web interface for emails? Just log in there.

Alternatively, you can get the server data for IMAP and SMTP, with which you can set it up on a mail program

Alternatively, you can certainly set up a forwarding of all mails to another mail in the mail interface (if you then have access again)

So I think that you will first add your school account to Google with your laptop. If you have that you can simply go to gmail and then switch your google account to your now registered school account and you will then receive all e-mails
