My laptop has not automatically connected to known networks for a long time. Every time I start my laptop I have to do the following routine:
Select the network at the bottom right of the desktop and click on connect
Wait until an error message comes up that I can't connect
Connect again. After the 2nd time it suddenly works
This is exactly how it always works, no matter which network I want to connect to.
I've already disabled the fast start thing that was introduced in Windows 10.
Is that something to do with the network card?
My first thought: does the laptop maybe need a while before it can dial in? What if you wait a few minutes without trying anything manually?
Something like this can have many different causes, often it is the software if it suddenly works.
From my own experience, I would first reinstall the network driver in your place (have the installation file ready beforehand, as no internet connection is possible without a network driver).
There are also programs that interrupt certain services or prevent them from starting. Maybe clean up the autostart via the task manager, or at least the programs that are not absolutely needed.
In the Windows settings under network there's also the menu item "Reset network", this might help.
How does the connection behave if you don't boot the laptop normally, but wake it up from energy-saving mode? Maybe that makes a difference.
Thank you for the tips, I'll try it all out 👍🏻
I already had the thought. Unfortunately I can wait until Plum Pentecost until something happens
As for the question: At least it's not Windows itself. I once had it with an old laptop that all the drivers took a long time and a WLAN connection was only possible after 2 minutes.
