My requirements: As far as computers are concerned: almost zero. How do I get to my booth? Well - there are friends and acquaintances who…

Fact: Win 7 … And now? I have no idea how I can even transfer my settings to a new WIN10 laptop. So from the start, with all the details.

It won't work that way, sorry. If you want to switch to Windows 10 and even, as you say, have no idea, I recommend you pick one of your friends and talk in detail beforehand about what requirements you have, what data needs to be backed up, which " Settings "you need etc.

Then you can set up your PC again with Windows 10 and create your work environment as you need it.

Thanks - I thought so.

I tried it 3 times: with the help of the neighbor who made it on his PC.

It didn't work on mine.

So stumbling blocks also occur there.

Thank you is encouraging, but…

You can perform a free Win10 upgrade that will keep your data, settings and installed programs *.

How this works is shown here:

Have a friend help you who is familiar with the Win10 settings to be carried out in the second half.

What should be considered:

Uninstall your virus protection program beforehand.
If this is a laptop, fully charge the battery beforehand and also connect the power adapter.

Connect the laptop / PC to the Internet via LAN.

Expect a total time of approximately 2.5 hours.

*) Older programs could have problems with Win10. This can be eliminated by installing in compatibility mode for Win7.

First of all, you have to save your data from the PC to an external hard drive in case something goes wrong.

Then buy a new 16 GB USB stick and load the following and boot up the PC:

"Older programs could have problems with Win10. This can be remedied by installing them in compatibility mode for Win7."

HOW DO YOU DO THAT? SORRY?!

Ru

Don't worry about it now.

It's easy. See: https://praxistipps.chip.de/...rten_43216, point 1 to point 7.
Then the program can be installed normally.

I had to use it for my photo editing program "Corel PaintShop Pro Photo" from the times of WinXP, which still worked well under Win7, but already hooked under Win8.1 but did not want to start under Win10.
With the help of the compatibility mode for Win7, it works completely again.

Thanks a lot!
