Hello, I have been using a GMX mail for years and I'm also satisfied.

I got an email from GMX today:

Dear GMX user, the storage space for your emails is almost completely occupied. Incoming messages that are larger than the available storage space no longer reach your inbox. We recommend that you delete emails you no longer need from your mailbox and regularly empty the "Deleted" folder.

My question now:

I do not use webmail but Apple Mail (i.e. With GMX Mail) and once on my cell phone, if I now delete all mails from webmail, does it delete the others on my cell phone & laptop etc?

Or are they still in there? Because I have very important emails that I want to keep…

PS: do not want to expand your memory!

Co

The mails are synchronized, I'm pretty sure that if you delete them somewhere, they will be deleted EVERYWHERE

→ imap stop

Po

Things are still lying around on the server to your GMX mail account.
If you use a program this will bring the mail content from the server to your PC. With this fetch process you can determine what should happen on the server. (e.g. Delete emails as soon as they have been fetched locally)
Since this probably didn't happen to you, it is now time to clean up the server. Log in to the website and clear out the different folders.

You should see whether you are accessing the emails via IMAP or POP3.

If you call them up via IMAP, the originals always remain with GMX until you delete the email. In this case, the solution would be that you actually delete emails. Also check the trash from the mail program, as the usually Also includes.

If you access them via POP3, the emails will be deleted from the server and thus free space there. However, you can also set that they should remain on the server for X days. If you have set this, you may have to reduce the number of days.

ox

Okay, yes that would be stupid… Isn't GMX that good? I still have a Gmail but as you know switch to a new mail… Oh dear

Co

The question is why do you get so many emails?
I have a "spam" e-mail, also from GMX, which is still from "childhood".

All my "important" mails (banks, payment, job) run through outlook.

Would separate that in your place, and the important one should never be with gmx. Scrap product stop.

ox

Okay, in short: IMAP the originals remain with GMX

And with POP3 do the originals go to the mailbox e.g. From Apple and stay there forever?

ki

They stay in the mailbox as long as you keep them there.

ox

Yes, I get at least 1 email a day because I have a lot to do with the email…

Okay, so safe stuff shouldn't be on GMX? Gmail won't be better there, will it?

Co

Gmail is as good as outlook I think.

I just think gmx will shut down at some point.

ox

Aha, so with POP3?

I never delete my emails, it has brought me a lot.

Where do I see whether it is POP3 or IMAG at GMX or can I also watch Apple at the mail program?

ki

You can see that in the settings of the email programs you use. Apple is a hardware and software manufacturer, not a specific program. So I don't know which one you are using.

ox

Yes, I have thought about a change a few times but it would be a very, very big job… I felt like I was registering 10k things.

Really? Why do you think? Is the stock going down like this?

ox

Okay thanks!

Yes, I already know, just don't know what it's called. It is simply a "program" from Apple where you can read your mail.

That's it:

https://support.apple.com/...elcome/mac

Co

The email service of which looks just like from 2005, does not make a good impression

ox

Yes the webmail sucks… For this reason I do not use it.

So with the free mail providers would Gmail, Outlook and which other ones come?

Co

No more needs to be considered, google and Microsoft are the market leaders. I only know about proton mail if you value security.

ox

Okay thanks! I have some more questions…

So I use GMX because it was my "first" and because you can make one very quickly so I have another one for my sale because I sell things privately (dealer) and on Google you can 1. Because the name of the mail is not exactly certain and 2. You can't do many like GMX…

Pronto? Dunno gmail should go.

Co

Gmail = google and outlook = microsoft
You can choose names for both as far as I know.

For me, firstname.lastname@outlook.de

ox

Okay, I'm going to quickly look where you can create one… Then write back how and what.

ox

Have seen from 3 mail are 2 POP and 1 IMAG I can delete the POP at GMX and they stay with me?

ox

So seen with both you need an account that is not so easy and since I have more than one email it is not possible because you have to enter the number and I only have one?!

ki

E-mails retrieved via POP3 are normally deleted from the server BE UNLESS you have set a period in the mail program over which the mails should remain there. Of course, you can of course delete the emails directly by logging in to the GMX interface.

Co

Yes, of course you have to create an account for your email, logically.
You can offer your mobile phone number with any email provider, this is not limited.

ox

Okay so the Apple program says:

A check mark (i.e. Selected) → After receiving an email copy of the server deletion

and then that's selected → after a week

but all mails are still on the Apple program and webmail too?!

ox

So I can make 3 mail or Google accounts with which number?

Co

I assume yes

ox

Okay, i saw times there are mails but they cost so much: e.g. Name@name.ch recommendable? How much do they cost?

Co

Is superfluous for the average consumer. You can also completely host your mail server yourself - the question is: what for
I leave that to the media giants.

ox

Aha, well. Yes, that's right!
