I installed Office Home & Study on my laptop today and followed all the given steps. Now I have the problem that the program is shown under "Programs and Features", but I have no idea where to open the program.
During installation, Windows asks you, among other things, whether you want to create start menu entries and desktop icons. Here you have probably forgotten the check mark, otherwise you would now have the necessary start shortcuts either on the desktop and / or in the start menu.
The office has an installation folder. By default, this should be found under "C: \ Program Files \ Microsoft Office". Depending on which components you have installed everything (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) you will find appropriate subfolders there and the start files for the respective Office component. You link these to your desktop.
If you can't cope with this, then start the Office installation again and select the "Repair" option. Make sure that the corresponding start shortcuts (in the desktop and / or start menu) are created. Possibly. Your office version also offers a "toolbar". Then all start files are summarized in a toolbar. The toolbar opens when you click on the corresponding icon in the taskbar (at the bottom of the screen). I wish you success!
PS: You should get a Win_10 version. Support for Win_8 ends in 2023. You currently get a Win_10 license for less than € 10! (Ask aunt google!)
I have now been able to open the program, but now as soon as the program starts, I get the error message: "Microsoft Office can't check the license for this application. Error when trying to repair or the user aborted. The application is shutting down." unfortunately I have no idea what I'm supposed to have canceled.
Make sure you are connected to the internet. Then right-click on the start file and select the "Start as administrator" option in the context menu. Microsoft should now be able to connect to the license server.
I have also had the case that the license could not be checked because an update was missing that was important for the checking process. Check in the open Office - at the top in the menu line under "Tools" or "Help" - whether there are any updates available for your version!
