For a few days I have taken my laptop out again and I noticed that in my room (2nd floor) I either only have 2 bars or no internet at all.
The router is on the first floor about under my room and only when I stand directly in front of the router do I get 4 bars.
Before I didn't have the problem, I had good internet on my laptop everywhere in the house and as soon as I move away from the router and want to sit on the sofa (3m away) only 2 bars are displayed.
I have already restarted the router and my laptop is also equipped with the latest update.
What can be the reason?
Can actually only be due to the hardware of the laptop. You can even get a WLAN USB stick. Veileucjt it works better with it
Funk is just very prone to interference.
Make sure you install an additional access point on the same floor.
I only have the problem on my laptop, not on my cell phone or other devices.
Yes, but swapping your laptop is probably not an option.
Do you know the difference between the n-standard 2.4 GHz and ac standard 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands? Typical for dual band WLAN routers.
ac standard 5 GHz is fast, but only suitable at close range,
more distant, the n-standard with 2.4 GHz is used (because of the range).
First, check which standard you are using (configuration page of the router), because 2.4 GHz is further.
If the signal is too weak (less than 50%), use 2.4 GHz n standard, it goes further. Align / position router / antennas differently, because antennas radiate with the long side, not with the antenna tip. More antennas on the router? Always align in different directions.
PS:
The laptop's Bluetooth can also interfere with the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, test it without Bluetooth.
Perhaps the antenna line in the laptop is broken from being opened / closed, and then a laptop only has poor Wi-Fi reception. An alternative is then a WLAN stick.
The WLAN antennas (if there's a cable break?) Are built into the cover.
Good to see here from HP:
Thank you! You have helped me a lot. I'm already using 2.4 GHz but my internet crashes after I move a few meters away from the router. I think it is because of the opening and closing, because a screw is missing and my laptop often "leans" too far back.
A cable break only occurs if it has been opened / closed very often.
It can of course be that the two antenna cables were only mechanically overstretched (you write wide / opened too far!) And thus the plugs have come off / unplugged.
WLAN adapters without inserted antennas have poor WLAN reception.
