Laptop battery run out?

My laptop ran almost empty the other day (it shut down after 20 minutes remained), now it has been on the cable for over 10 hours and still won't start, is it over or can it be revived somehow? (The light that shows that it is charging is on neither)

Check whether there's voltage at the charging plug from the power supply unit. Usually this is around 19 volts.

How exactly do I check this? (Please borrow everything in the simplest language I'm quite untalented with technology)

You should use a meter or ask a friend who has one for this.

I have another idea 😉

Take a different socket, plug everything together and then turn the plug that goes into the laptop. Sometimes the contacts are not quite what they should be.
