Why can one better remember things when they are written down?

Our school has its fourth year of tablet classes. This means you can use tablets in the classroom as long as the teacher allows it. This is quite useful, for example, if you want to visualize a graph in math very quickly instead of drawing it on its own. Or research on Google for teaching are nothing special for us anymore. Many of my senior students write with a laptop or a tablet keyboard. I'm usually the first to write, but with a keyboard that is easily at least 3 times faster. (So about 400 characters per minute with me)

But I can really memorize the things only when I do that by hand at home. Why is that so?

I do not know for sure, but I guess it's because when you write, you pay more attention to spelling, and if you write in writing, it somehow links your brain.

but I do not know exactly.

Ps. Am also in an iPad class xD

When writing, you sometimes make mistakes that you correct. Often you then recognize these mistakes and it was just lunatic mistakes, because you're in a bad mood or something. In doing so, you memorize the sentence because you have to look at the sentence while prescribing a word. That's why you memorize this.

Science confirms that. A researcher writes:

"Examinations show that children who write with the pen have better fine motor skills." When writing, I move my fingers in complex movements, each letter requires a different movement pattern, while the keyboard always has to move up and down, up and down It's a completely stupid movement, the motion patterns of writing with the hand leave a trace in the brain, so studies have shown that it's easier to remember context when you write it by hand, not the keyboard Children have found that stories they wrote by hand were more complex and longer than children typing on the computer, and the interplay of fine motor skills and haptic experience sparks creativity. Worker standing on the assembly line, who does not have the most creative heights when doing mechanical work typing on the keyboard is a mechanical job, while typing by hand has something sensuous. Sensuality and creativity are closer to each other than monotony and creativity. "https://www.derwesten.de/wochenende/was-ist-besser-das-schreiben-mit-stift-oder-mit-tastatur-id10482192.html

Because you are careful to write only to the letter itself and that you also get everything. If you repeat it by hand at home, you are automatically more concerned with the fabric, since you are not under time pressure.

But a tip from life:-)

Look around for the different learning methods. It will save you a lot of internet search later (and who knows if it's all right) and you're also training to understand the relationships and to form YOURSELF. This is a first step to more success and / or more free time later in life. Just an example:

The faster you write, the less time you will remember what you wrote.

It is best to write everything in your own words (because only then you will have to think through it while writing).
