Laptop movie always just hangs and whirrs, what to do?

For some time I have the problem that if I want to watch a movie on my laptop, whether streaming or DVD, the film at a certain point simply hangs, I can do nothing more and the device buzzes so funny. The hanging point is always different, sometimes I manage to look more, sometimes less. I used to have no problems with that! I ask for help!
