How do I put my iPhoto library on an external hard drive?

I bought an external hard drive, and would genre my iphoto mediathek save on this. (including folders and so - not just all photos somehow). So I can delete them on the laptop, & have space for new ones.

My problem is that I do not have enough space to duplicate in Iphoto.

Who has tips or help?
