Why can it be that my laptop freezes several times a week during use?

I have it almost daily that my laptop freezes and I have to restart it manually. I already have new cooling paste and a cooling pad, but that only helps to play at Sims4, where it has been getting hot ever since. But it does not help against the crashes

If the thermal compound is hardened, the cooling brings relatively little.

Maybe this should be renewed and the dust removed from the blower.
