Build monitor yourself / model number?

I'm building a monitor from a laptop monitor. I would now like to buy a controller board, but I can't find one that has the exact model number. The model number has a decimal place and I wanted to ask how important is this decimal place? So assuming my monitor has the model number B1736.3, can I also buy a controller board with the number B1736.5?

Buy a monitor, they're all infinitely better
