Windows XP has not received any security updates for a long time. It is not recommended to use this anymore.
Why don't you use Linux?
I already have it. For some reason my pc won't install this. That's why I don't want Linux and I have more experience with Windows XP.
It could also be that the performance problems are not only due to the fact that the laptop is already old. Try to install Windows 10.
Of course there are tons of (illegal) sites where you can download Windows XP. But you never know if that is virus-free.
