I'd like to change my MAC address (why does not matter) and now I'm kinda scared that I'll break something. Go e.g. Saved data lost? Or are there other side effects? The laptop on which I would like to change the Mac address is only partially mine so I share it with someone else.
Normally you can't change the MAC address at all, since this is given before manufacturer. This only works in exceptional cases.
Buy a new network card and go online with it. Then your MAC address is really changed.
Yes, others have already told me, but what about this video?
So you do not change the MAC address, you just overwrite them only temporarily under Windows. Your network adapter will still have the same MAC address.
@ ZaoDaDong So if I have an Internet lock, it brings nothing to override the Mac address because the router still recognizes me?
You may be fooled by the router.
@ ZaoDaDong Ok but what if the router is set so that every new device that joins the Wi-Fi is immediately put on the whitlist and thus has no Internet? Can I then rewrite the overwritten Mac address back to the originals so I'm no longer on the whitelist?
A whitelist is never filled automatically. That would be absurd. If there's a whitelist, then you have to enter there manually the new MacAddresse, which you want to use in Windows, so you get the net.
@ ZaoDaDong Ok, so I just hope that nobody noticed the override of the Mac address 😂 Thank you
