Do SSDs fail more often than HDD?

I've been enthusiastically using SSDs for the system partition as well as my game partition for several years. Only data partitions for media I leave on HDD, s.

I realize, however, that I often miss the SSD's. In different PCs. Laptop like desktops. I use both Samsung Evo and near-synonymous SanDisk.

It usually starts with the fact that the system is not found at boot time and the boot partition has to be repaired with Windows repair medium.

Am I doing something wrong?

Since 2012, I have a Samsung 840 Basic in use, it runs without problems.

So far we have an SSD in every PC in the household, no problems so far!

In the meantime, I have but 2 HDDs failed, at least throw this smart error.

Hmm, I usually read that the SSDs actually last longer than HDDs… Very annoying if yours are always broken early…

What you can do for a long SSD shelf life: The defragmentation should be turned off for SSDs, and on the SSD at least 10% free memory should remain. In addition, I have created the partition in my SSD total 10 GB smaller, as a total of free area are available. (does not have to be)

Personally, I would recommend Samsung or Crucial as a manufacturer. And I recommend you from the SSD on which Windows is running to create a backup, e.g. With https://www.aomei.de/backup-software/ab-standard.html. Then you can quickly change to a new SSD.

Not really. The mechanical hard drives are much more susceptible to interference than the SSDs.

That an SSD breaks down quickly because many write cycles destroy the interfaces in the memory cells is correct, but for the average consumer is hardly to pay attention, because it takes years until the SSD thereby gives up the ghost. This problem is much greater for server farm operators because the SSDs are much more heavily loaded there and need to be replaced much more frequently due to this wear.

They used to be very often and fast… But technically a lot has happened. ^^
