Does anyone have experience with laptops that are cheap and upgradeable to buy or to build yourself? (16GB ram etc) Needs one for music production

Pi

I don't know anyone who builds a laptop and I would only upgrade the SSD.

Le

What do you want to upgrade?

You can swap ram and hard disk, but that's it.

it remains an old box

There are many completely refurbished, certified laptops on the Internet. This is called e.g. Reteq. I've only had good experiences with it. It's a good deal cheaper like new equipment and better for the environment

Ma

Build laptops yourself. That would be something completely new. And what you can upgrade is RAM and HDD to SSD. That's it.

I guess music is not quite as memory-intensive as films, it depends of course on the quality and number of tracks, but most of the laps should be able to do that.

If you expect suggestions, you should always state what you want to spend, that is a criterion if you are looking for a used one.

I'll give you a list of new devices, 15-17 ", FullHD 1920x1080p, 8GB RAM, 256 GB SSD maybe they are not as expensive as assumed?

So I bought a Lenovo Miditower i3 with originally 4GB RAM and was surprised how well everything went. I'm not a gamer, only office and multimedia, internet, programming and online trading are handled by it. I then upgraded to 8GB, but that didn't make it any faster
