If you have Windows as the operating system (you should also specify the version, also the laptop type), then there's a loudspeaker symbol at the bottom right next to the clock.
Right click on it and then open Sound Settings.
You can also test the microphone there.
Download audacity (free) and record something. Then you can do what you want with the soundtrack and see if there's noise etc.
