We have the problem in the household that we have extremely slow Wi-Fi, DLan is no better either.
We got the Fritzbox 7490 2 years ago with the fiber optic connection where we had to change the provider because it was just made for free by SWN.
By the way, before we had the same router but NEVER had problems.
The fiber optic network should actually create up to 500mbits, but only 10-15mbits arrive via Wi-Fi.
150-250Mbits are in there via LAN with a laptop.
Found that very strange because we even have a wireless repeater.
There are often disconnections and then we always have to restart the Fritzbox. I asked my father if he had also updated the software, but that was never done, that's probably not the reason either.
The worst part is that my father is self-employed and relies on good, fast internet (where in Germany, in my opinion, he's at the wrong address if he wants fast internet)
The router is downstairs in the living room, me and my father are on the first floor and have installed a Wi-Fi repeater there years ago. Everything was always fine until the switch to fiber optics.
Now I'm wondering whether the SWN router can simply be replaced because it is no longer the newest.
would that work?
Of course you can do that, but if you depend on fast internet, then WLAN is the wrong thing anyway. If you put a cable on the first floor, then you have a stable line with maximum performance.
Yes, you can, but don't think that this should do anything.
