Why is my internet speed fluctuating so?

So I have a 1000 mb / s line from Vodafone and the associated design award router or something and for whatever reason the internet works normally after restarting the router, but a little later the router somehow doesn't want more than 50 -70 mb / s output. And I know what some will ask now, no, the distance to the router has not changed or at the time of the test, but in between I moved through the house with my laptop because the router then switches to the strange 70 mb / s mode. I also don't understand why he does that, even if the transmission then possibly has less loss, so 150 mb / s get to the other side of the house with my laptop (if the router does what it should, of course) . I couldn't find anything about it on the Internet either, but maybe I was just looking with the wrong search tags. Maybe someone had a similar problem too? I don't really know much about networks, but I suspect that the router will then switch from 5Ghz to 2.4Ghz network or something, but of course I can be completely wrong with that. However, if that's the reason, can someone tell me if and how I will be exhibiting at the vodafone design award router 2.4 GHz?

Mbit / s right?

Ar

Design award only refers to the design, how the router looks, so it doesn't matter which awards the thing has, it is a standard router that is only there to establish an internet connection, no more, better get a Fritz box at your own expense or another Suitable routers, gaming routers are certainly not bad, but it makes no sense to gamble over Wi-Fi if it is important to have a good connection, a LAN cable connection is mandatory

if you only want to use Wi-Fi, a gaming router would be a waste of money, that's just marketing

fritzbox has a good reputation

Ab

Just for information, no other hardware is installed in a FritzBox.

Oa

Well, just wanted to say which router it is, that it only refers to the design is clear to me. I haven't heard much good about the router either, but I don't necessarily want to spend that much money on a new router.

Ar

Software is therefore crucial, the standard routers from vodafone or o2 are not suitable for normal use, only had problems with things

with the fritzbox it has gotten better, you can also set priorities, etc.

2.4 GHz ensures that you no longer have Wi-Fi at all if you are a little further away from the router. A 5 GHz repeater would be better. 2.4 GHz is limited to 300/450 Mbps.

5 GHz works well with the ARRIS station, but it can differ in your house or apartment.

2.4 GHz is for greater coverage, 5 GHz and 60 GHz for smaller coverage, often only in one or two rooms.

If there are other devices in the 2.4 GHz network, your Internet will be even slower because the 300/450 Mbps are shared between all devices.

Ar

They advertise a free router and you strike, maybe the free router wasn't necessarily a primary purchase decision from the provider, but now you have the salad, other providers have a Fritz box with them, or you buy the box yourself, you just don't get anything for free cheap goods in the majority of cases

take money in hand and get something in return

or let yourself be tempted and then plague you with problems and inconveniences

Not everything that is expensive is equal to quality or necessaryc so it doesn't have to be a gaming router, but if you want something better than this Design Award winner, you can already spend some money to have peace of mind, the device belongs to you

Oa

Hmm, okay. Do you have any idea why it fluctuates so?

li

The ARRIS station is now working without any problems. Had a lot of bugs before. The 5 GHz range is also better than some other routers. Fritzbox is of course a better choice, although it must first be activated via DOCSIS.

li

Yes, 2.4 GHz is just slower and the speed is not that stable. Are there multiple devices in your router?
When they do something, it can fluctuate.
Otherwise buy a 5 GHz Wi-Fi amplifier. It must be placed between the ARRIS station and the place where you want to use Wi-Fi.

Oa

As I said, router can do something, so the cheap product is questionable, but it just looks as if the router has 2 modes and I want to block 1 of them, whether the thing is cheap or not I don't care as long as it works…

also because of black friday have a huawei Wi-Fi 6 plus router, which is only limited better. It doesn't turn down that weird, but the signal range is somehow worse.

Ar

I would prefer American or European products, no matter where they are ultimately screwed together, I didn't spend any money on Black Friday

Oa

I had already installed an amplifier, but it couldn't save anything if the router shut down itself. As I said, sometimes I only have mb / s right next to the router 70 and as soon as I restart it or use the internet completely for a longer period of about 10 minutes (right next to the router, strangely, it doesn't work anywhere else), it works again at normal speed. Is there any way to prevent this change?

Oa

I don't care where the router comes from and the router was in a bundle from a laptop that I would have bought one way or another, but no matter, I don't have the feeling that the conversation with you leads to anything useful.

Oa

Yes, my mistake ^^ "

Ab

I don't want to question that the software is especially good for inexperienced users. But you still don't have more reception / bandwidth.

Ab

Nice essay, but has no relevance to my point / argument.
