My laptop doesn't recognize my audio recording device?

I have a 3.5mm audio input and a 3.5mm plug inside. And all drivers are on their latest version.

However, my headset is not shown as audio input.

Is it an audio input or is it this combined socket for input and output?

Does the headset have one or two cables to connect?

Is your 3.5 jack 4-pin? How about a headset on a cell phone? The PC can't do that.
