My laptop is about 2 years old. I bought it with Windows 10. Now Avira and McAfee ask me to buy these virus programs on a daily basis because Windows defender is said to have expired. For 2 weeks, my mouse pointer often floats uncontrollably on the desktop. What can this be?

No, you do not need anything if you have Windows Defender.
The request is only advertising.
Windows Defender can't be expired because it is free for Windows 10 users.
The Windows Defender is now so good that it is absolutely comparable to McAffee or Avira. Therefore, it is a matter of taste which antivirus software you use. You can uninstall the McAffee and Avira ads quietly.
There are people who believe that Win10's existing Defender is enough.
Others are not. - I'm also one of them and have therefore installed Avast Free.
