Possibility to restore data?

I recently restarted my laptop after an error and noticed that all the files on the desktop have disappeared. With a recovery program I tried to save these files. The program was able to find many things, but I couldn't open any files because they were all corrupted (docs, photos, videos, etc.). Then I reset my laptop to an older version (about 3-4 days beforehand), but all files have disappeared. Can you somehow save them? If I start the program now, there's nothing left to restore

So in principle you can save data, but yes, since you have not reset anything manually… I assume * rather * that your drive failed. This means that parts of the memory are corroded and can no longer be read out.

If it is, you have unfortunately lost, but if you do * nothing * yourself and things are gone… Then it must be hardware-related.

(Except you have a really nasty Trojan)

Have you tried photorec? It is a bit fiddly to use, but so far I have been able to get very good results:-)

"Recovery points" only save system-relevant settings, but no data such as images, videos, etc.

If the rescue software finds nothing more, you can forget about it.

Possibly helps Recuva in "deep scan mode".

Try the Computerbild emergency DVD, there are some rescue programs.
Everything runs under LINUX and is not dependent on windoof and its behavior.
