Laptop connected to screen?

I have connected a screen to my laptop, but when I open an app it is not opened on the screen but on my laptop. How can I set the app (e.g. Chrome) to open on the screen?

Press the Windows key and "P" at the same time on the keyboard, then you should see a menu that shows how you want to split the screen, just choose duplicate or expand (or whatever you want).
