How can I log into minecraft with my Microsoft account?

I recently bought minecraft and since I would like to play with some friends, I have to log in with a Microsoft account, but when I do that it always says "Login failed". Games on a laptop

As long as that doesn't work, try a Mojang account. I currently only have Minecraft connected to my Mojang account.

Mojang is the company that owns Minecraft. Microsoft then bought this.
