Shutdown laptop

Cmd -> shutdown command entered normally, but it shows no warning at the bottom right / resp. Does not indicate execution of the command. How can I tell that it still works, because the laptop does not turn off, so it did not seem to work. What went wrong?

"shutdown / s" is shut down

"shutdown / r" is rebooting

Without further commands, the computer goes down after a minute.

With "shutdown / s / t 10" the computer shuts down in 10 seconds.
