So if you have Windows as your operating system and you have a trustworthy antivirus, I would go in search of a crack version. However, at your own risk. If something does not seem so kosher to you then keep your hands off. As an alternative there's OpenOffice.
Use LibreOffice instead. Is 100% free and comes with Excel alternative and impress as powerpoint alternative in one package. It is also opensource.
Take LibreOffice. You won't even notice a big difference to Word.

Stay away from cracks
No, the real Microsoft Office including Word is not free. But you can:
use another free software like Libreoffice / OpenOffice / Google Docs that have almost the same functionality
install it and use it for a time without a license
However, OpenOffice is no longer being developed and is increasingly becoming a security hole.
