How can it be that many Microsoft devices already provide Word for free, but I have to pay for Word on my new notebook, or just have a code for 1 year free use. So my question, how can I get Word for free?
"So my question, how can I get Word for free?"
Just use freeware programs like LibreOffice or OpenOffice. They have exactly the same functions and are free of charge.
Okay thanks. Then LibreOffice
Not at all, Word costs. Only the online version can be used for free.
LibreOffice Writer, OpenOffice Writer and FreeOffice TextMaker are free alternatives
These are not freeware programs, but open source. The confusion with the virus-heavy closed-source pests should be avoided.
I can also recommend to work in the LaTeX text sentence system. This gives you even more professional results than with Word. LaTeX is free software.
You have to install the following:
A LaTeX distribution. I recommend MiKTeX: https://miktex.org/
A LaTeX editor. I recommend Texworks. He has 2 views. On the left you have the source text input. On the right the PDF output: http://www.tug.org/texworks/#Getting_TeXworks
Both are synonymous with Windows 10.
