My mother complained that her laptop is very slow. Very very slow.
First this was my laptop, when I got me a tower PC, I gave it to her. I remember the laptop much faster.
In Task Manager, the disk is always 100% busy, although it is usually only about 1 MB / s. That's a 256 GB SSD.
I have removed unnecessary programs from the startup and uninstalled unnecessary programs in "Programs and Features". The drivers are all up-to-date and the volumes are optimized. "Appearance and Performance of Windows" is at "Optimal Performance." Also ran the restore-health command on CMD. All files are compressed.
Norton Security is installed on the laptop. Scan done and disk optimized. Change nothing.
Windows 10 is installed 64 bit.
If you need more information, just ask.
What can I do?
Reset Windows // Cleanboot
Backup important data and delete everything. Vlt synonymous ne larger SSD in.
Look at the resourcenmonitor what pulls the whole performance.
So the SSD still has 150 GB free.
That's the thing… Since nothing draws great performance. Nevertheless, 100%.
But shut up, I would do a cleanboot
If you read the nonsense with "Reset" again: Do not listen to it. Resetting a computer does not solve any problems! It only creates work.
150 GB free should actually be enough.
There are two approaches you should check:
1. Check the S.M.A.R.T. Values of the HDD - and perform chkdsk
2. Search for warnings and errors in the Event Viewer.
If you or your mother run optimizers that should "fix" the registry, the problem can be there.
Slowing SSDs or even HDDs may be about to fail.
So, as a precaution, make a backup.
Backup is not necessary. More than Chrome is not installed ^^
