Until last night, Sims 4 ran flawlessly, or in other words; the CPU utilization was at ~ 20% and my laptop didn't threaten to overheat either. Today I started the game and the load shot up to ~ 50%, in addition to that my fan gets really loud after a short game time of ~ 10 minutes and my laptop threatens to overheat.
I haven't made any changes and am currently quite baffled about my situation.
My laptop is definitely suitable for Sims 4 - I've been playing it on this device for over 2 years and have never had any problems. I haven't installed any programs in the last few days and haven't made any changes to the settings.
I tried to repair the game itself via Origin, the caches including localthumpcache.package are deleted and I play free of CCs and Mods.
Nothing has changed since yesterday, and yet my laptop is so sensitive to the game. Maybe someone has an explanation why?
That was weird, but 50% cpu utilization is still nothing. Download a program where you can see how hot the pc gets and if it is below 80/90 degrees, it should be ok. I have 80-100% load at many games.
That is definitely below 80/90 ° C.
Nevertheless, the sudden change makes me think, especially since Sims 4 has never eaten so much CPU.
Sims 4 had a major update last week.
You also have to check whether Windows updates are running.
After 2 years, you could also clean your fans and coolers.
The CPU lowers its clock from approx. 75 ° C.
The best thing is to watch live with MSI Afterburner what the load looks like.
The fan was only cleaned shortly before Christmas. There were no Windows updates yesterday and I installed the update before starting the game.
Unfortunately I still have the same problem today - no updates running, the fan is cleaned as I said and the load is still at ~ 50%, although no other programs are running in the background.
