Ethernet does not work on the PC?

I have a problem: Ń

Since gesture evening I have no more Ethernet, it is not the cable because the LAN cable works on my laptop. I have Ubuntu 16.04 on my PC. I called Unitymedia (Vodafone) and they say it is because of the PC because I have restarted the router 5 times. Whenever I connect the cable to the PC there's always a circle instead of the 2 arrows, which only rotates to infinity. So it's probably not the cable, it's the PC, but it stopped working abruptly last night. That's why I assume that there's something in the system that I have to do.

Can anyone tell me what I have to do in the system?

Pins are bent on the back of your PC where you plug in the Lan cable. And do you hate trying to use a different operating system?

ta

If the LAN cable works perfectly on another device, I have to give Unitymedia right: it is up to your device.

From here, I can't judge whether it is due to the implementation in the kernel or simply because the LAN hardware has a defect.

Te

Well it is strange that it did not work after a restart, also the device recognizes that a LAN cable is connected, but tries to connect

Te

Unfortunately I don't know exactly what a pin is, can you explain it a bit specifically? LG

Gi

Pull the LAN cable out of your PC and light it with a flashlight into the LAN port of the PC, if you see bent pins there I think the port is broken. If you don't see anything then look for a USB to Lan adapter and see if it works: https://www.amazon.de/...00M77HMU0/

ta

Not necessarily - the electronics of the PC are heavily loaded, especially when restarting.

I also bought a USB network card because of something like that.

Te

Oh that's right.

Te

So I took a closer look, nothing looks suspicious (posted a picture above)

Gi

Looks good, so put your Lan cable back in the PC and Google something. Are the 2 LEDs flashing at the moment?

Te

Jo, the LEDs flash, the router is also connected, but is still offline.

Do you know a good cheap USB Wi-Fi adapter? I think there are some that you just have to connect and nothing else.
