I have the problem that my gaming laptop (I have an Acer Predator Helios 300) starts to lag after about 2-3 days of use, then I reset it and it runs normally again, I can play all games and then it starts to lag again. I wanted to ask if anyone knows a solution?
What kind of graphics card does the laptop have?
Gtx 1050
Do you only have problems while playing or also in normal operation?
You might be playing games that the graphics card can't handle.
After i opened a game the game and the laptop laggs and when i restart the pc it wd run normally and when i open the game it wd lag but other games i can play without game and pc laggs.
But after updates like GeForce or major Windows updates, the laggs often fix it, but there are not updates that often
I'm currently playing gta 5 on normal settings and GeForce experience suggests that on high settings
Which game do you have problems with and which don't?
The problem may be with your graphics card or the graphics settings of the game. The GTx1050ti is not exactly a high end graphics card. Now more of a low budget card and you shouldn't have too high expectations of it.
At the moment I'm playing gta 5 rp so fivem and then the problem occurs but I can play gta 5 without any problems and even if I turn the settings all the way down I have total FPS drops.
The game should go well with the 1050 ti.
What other hardware do you have, how old is the notebook and what are the temperatures of cpu and gpu?
So the CPU and GPU temperatures were hot at the beginning but I now have extra cooling and since then it works and I have an i5 processor and where exactly can I see the hardware?
N some more detailed information about the temperatures would be very helpful. How many degrees. Can be displayed with msi afterburner for example while playing.
If the cpu or gpu is too hot, they will clock down and the fps will drop accordingly
You can find the rest of the hardware in the task manager, for example
90 degrees
90 degrees is already a house number. Not so far that it switches itself off, but as far as the cpu / gpu clock down to prevent them from getting even hotter. That would explain the framedrops.
Have you ever cleaned the inside of the laptop? I think I would bring a lot. Renewing thermal paste would also help.
Yes, but it was right at the beginning and, to be honest, I'm scared of doing something wrong if I cleaned it or, above all, renewed the thermal paste
At the beginning already? Did you buy it new?
Don't you know anyone who knows something like that? It's actually not that difficult either. And with n couple of well-explained YouTube videos, it's easy to do. Thermal grease is not witchcraft either. But I think it will have a positive effect on your laptop. Laptops generally get warmer than desktop PCs, but that's a bit too warm.
