Windows reset stuck at 33%?

Unfortunately I have the following problem:

About 3 hours ago I started to reset my laptop (Windows 10). At first the progress was also very slow, but it always went a few percent further.

Now the reset has been "stuck" at 33% for some time! ("This PC is being reset 33%")

How long can it take to get 1 more percent in the meantime? Is that normal?

What can I do if things are not moving forward at all? I bought the laptop with Windows installed and no Windows CD, stick or key…

I really hope someone can help me here…

With an SSD and a faster CPU, resetting shouldn't take three hours.

There's still the option to wait or to do a hard reset (hold down the power button for a long time). Then all changes will be undone and you can try again. This often helps, but it is the last resort.

If your system does not start afterwards and does not work after several attempts, you have to restart.

You should back up your files. If you can no longer access it, you boot with a Linux Live boot stick and transfer the data to an external drive or USB stick.

Thanks for the information. I have an SSD and an i5-9300H.

I've done a hard reset. Windows started normally again?

Can I do something to "prevent" it from hanging up if I try again?

Hardly, the OS has to do that itself. Make sure you get a CD or a stick.

In order to be able to answer the question correctly, you should tell us why you wanted to reset the computer in the first place.

Usually this is done by laypeople as "troubleshooting" in a kind of unfocused actionism and recommended by fools to the ignorant.
